Weddings

Celebrating marriage with dignity, faith, and joy at Brecksville UCC.

"Love is patient; love is kind… It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." 1 Corinthians 13:4–7

You Are Welcome Here

We are honored to share in this significant moment of your lives. Weddings at Brecksville UCC are open to members of our congregation and their immediate families, as well as non-members who are prepared to make a Christian commitment to their marriage. All ceremonies are officiated by our pastor and conducted as a worshipful, meaningful service. We welcome couples of all backgrounds, including LGBTQ+ couples, fully and joyfully.

Getting Started

The pastor is the key person in planning your wedding. We recommend reaching out at least 3–4 months before your intended date to check availability and begin premarital counseling sessions. Please also contact the music director and church office early to confirm the calendar.

  • Contact the pastor to discuss your plans and confirm availability.
  • Premarital counseling sessions with the pastor are required before the ceremony.
  • Music planning — work with our music director to choose processional, recessional, and preservice music. Outside soloists are welcome with prior coordination.
  • Ceremony details — décor, photography, and order of service are developed in consultation with the pastor.

The Ceremony

Decorations should reflect simple beauty and be in place by rehearsal time. Excessive flowers or candles are discouraged. A Unity Candle may be placed on the communion table (holders provided by the couple). All sanctuary decorations must be removed before the reception.

Photography: Flash photography is permitted during the processional and recessional only. Photographers should remain near the back of the sanctuary or in the balcony. Video equipment must be positioned in the balcony or narthex.

After the ceremony: Rice and confetti are not permitted. Birdseed may be used outside near the front doors after formal photos are taken.

Facilities

  • Sanctuary — seats 225; balcony available for videography and photography.
  • Parlor — seats 25; suitable for informal ceremonies; can be locked for bridal preparation.
  • Pilgrim Hall — available for your reception, with kitchen and pantry access.
  • Parking — 30–35 spaces behind the church; entrances from Arlington Street and Route 82.

Alcoholic beverages and smoking are not permitted in the church building.

All fees are due before the rehearsal. Pastor honorarium and music director fees are paid directly to those individuals; custodial and rental fees are paid to the church office.
